Mindfullmess

Animation without a camera, worked directly onto 16mm film, along with photograms produced in the darkroom.
The piece explores the sensory stimulus experience of a neurodivergent mind. Thoughts emerge, collide, displace one another, and slip away before I can grasp them. Intense thought processes are intertwined with bodily excitement, surrender, and immersion.
While producing the material for the work, I am caught in a loop of hyperfocus where the concept of time ceases to exist. Bodily needs, such as eating and resting, become completely secondary.
The rhythm of the piece reflects my inner state of being. The rapid succession of image and sound generates strong, physical sensations that calm both my mind and body. The starting point and outcome of the work are not intellectual, but physical and aesthetic.
